Celukan Bawang (IDCEB)

The port is mainly engaged in the export of coffee, it is also a supply base for offshore oil vessels and barges which operate in the sea area N of Pulau Bali. Besides, there are power station namely PLTU Celukan Bawang that handles coal.

Celukan Bawang is situated on the NW coast of the island of Bali.

Outer anchorage: Anchorage can be obtained, in either monsoon season, off the leading line in the entrance to the bay in depths of between 50-60m, sand and rock. Anchorage for small vessels can be obtained off the leading line within Teluk Celukanbawang, SE of the isolated danger beacon, in depths from 30-34m, sand and rock.

Celukan Bawang is approached via an entrance channel 640m in length, width 350m with a min depth of 7.0m LWS. In the fairway of the entrance to the inlet there are depths of 26.0-60m. Approach and entry: The harbour is approached on the alignment of leading lights and then entered between the narrow reef fringed points of a horseshoe shaped bay. The pair of leading light beacons, white with white triangular topmarks, in line bearing 198°, are situated close behind the village. They lead close W of the beacon NW of Tanjung Tingatinga and E of the light beacon (isolated danger). Two jetties are situated in the SW part of the inlet. There are depths of 9.1m alongside each. They should be approached by leaving the leading line to pass between the light beacon (isolated danger) and the beacons marking the detached shoal.

A green lightbuoy (green light flashing every 3 seconds; green cone topmark) is moored close E of the E extremity of the reef, and a beacon (green cone topmark) marks the SE edge of the reef. Another low islet, composed of coral sand, on which there is a pillar, lies midway between Pulau Celukan Bawang and the point. A shelving reef, marked by discoloration extends from Tanjung Tingatinga (08° 11'S 114°50'E). The W edge of this reef is marked by a beacon (red can topmark). Celukan Bawang Light Beacon (red; 11m in height) stands close NW of Tanjung Tingatinga. A detached reef, with a depth of 2.7m over it, lies in the SE part of the inlet, off the village, and is marked by beacons. A light beacon (isolated danger) stands in the middle of the inlet.

Range 1.2m max. Current: The max speed is 4.1kts from 34° direction and 1.2kts from 160° direction.

Prevailing winds: Monsoon winds.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Port: Ch 16, 12 and 14.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.
