Bunyu (IDBYQ)

In the S of the island there is a "T" jetty for general cargo and passengers and also 2 coal jetties on the island operated by PT Garda Tujuh Buana and PT Adani Global. There is also an oil terminal, which consists of a CBM and a jetty, operated by Pertamina.

Bunyu is situated on the W coast of Bunyu Island, off the NE coast of Borneo.

LOA 79.97m, beam 16m, 2,257DWT. Offshore: LOA 183m, draught 10m, beam 32.5m, 46,986DWT.

Local knowledge is necessary for safe anchorage. A good anchorage can be obtained in a depth of 14.0m, 2nm S of Tanjung Arang.

From a position E of Tanjung Mangkalihat at 1° 01'N 118°59'E to a position E of the light buoy at 3°23.8'N 117°57.7'E with a least depth of 7.6m leading to the port of Bunyu (8 miles W).

Pilotage to the oil terminal is undertaken by the Pertamina Mooring Master and is compulsory. The Mooring Master boards at the anchorage.

Berthing and unberthing is undertaken only during the hours of daylight.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: The terminal monitors Ch 16, 09, 19 from 2 hours before arrival until 2 hours after departure.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document. Crews from communist countries are not allowed to disembark whilst in port.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
