Buatan (IDBUN)

The port is a private port used for crude palm oil, passenger and pulp and paper loading.

Buatan is located on the Siak River on the E coast of Sumatera on a similar latitude to Singapore.

LOA 110m, draught 5m, 5,000DWT. Max airdraught 40m, overhead cables.

From a position 2nm E of Tanjung Balai Light (01°23'N 102°09'E) the track leads S. The leading lights: Front Light Beacon (white triangular daymark point up) is in position 01°13'N 102°11.6'E. Rear Light Beacon (2 white triangular daymarks, point down), is close S of the front light. The alignment (180°) of these beacons leads towards the approach to Sungai Siak, passing (positions given from the front light): E of a lightbuoy (8nm NNW), then: W of a lightbuoy (7nm N), then: E of a lightbuoy (5.25nm N), then: W of Tanjung Kelemin (3.5nm N). From this vicinity the track leads SSW, with leading lights: Front light (white triangle framework tower, 5m in height) in position 01° 12.5'N 102°10'E on the W bank of Sungai Siak, and: Rear light (white framework tower, white triangular topmark, 10m in height), 1nm SSW of the front light. The alignment (196.5°) of these lights leads across the bar of Kuala Siak, W of Tanjung Layang, passing (positions from Tanjung Layang): W of a lightbuoy (0.5nm NW), and: E of a lightbuoy (1nm SW).

Sea pilotage is compulsory for passage through Selat Bengkalis. The shore pilot station (01°56'N 101°47'E) is situated at the E entrance to Selat Morong. The sea pilot boards vessels in a position 4nm E of the shore station. Vessels waiting for the pilot should anchor from 3.5nm to 4nm E of the pilot station. The pilot vessel is 18m in length, painted white with the word "Pilot" on the side.

Berthing and unberthing is only undertaken in daylight.

Radio: Estuary of Siak River: Callsign "PKP9". It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Ch 16; 12 14.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
