Mersrags (LVMRX)

The port handles wood produce such as timber, wood chips, wood pellets and also transhipped peat, gravel, sand, rock, salt and other cargoes for import and export activity.

Summer Zone for vessels over 100m in length and Winter Zone for vessels of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Mersrags is situated on the western shore of the Gulf of Riga, approx 80km NW of Riga and 4km S of the Mersrags Cape. The port is very well connected by road to Riga, Talsi, Tukums and Kolka.

LOA 130m, draught 6.5m.

Approx 403,000t of cargo and 100 vessels handled annually.

Anchorage is located in position 57°20.1'N 023°12.1'E. Anchorage can be obtained in the vicinity of the Fairway Lightbuoy (safe water).

The Fairway is 2nm in length with a width of 80m. From the vicinity of the fairway Lightbuoy (safe water), the alignment (270°) of these light leads into the harbour passing: N of dangerous rock (0.8nm ESE), marked by a buoy (isolated danger) then S of a wreck (0.8nm ESE) marked by a buoy (isolated danger). The track also lies within a white sector (265.25°-267.75°) of a light (square framework tower) from the root of the S mole.

Front Light (red trapezium, white stripe, 9.0m in height, 57°20.1'N 023° 07.5'E). Rear Light (red triangle, point down on red tarpezium, white stripe, 12m in height, 199m from front light).

Movement of ships is interrupted if wind force exceeds 23kts or if visibility is less than 1nm.

Dependent on wind force and direction.

There are tugs available, "Ezis", 35GT and ''Henriks'' 60GT.
