The port of Kuala Langsa is located on Krueng Langsa River in S Aceh.

From the open sea, the port can be reached by 2 channels: Teluk Dalam Channel and a channel located between Tanjung Langsa and Pulau Telagatujoh. The channel has a length of 8nm, a width of 80-120m and depth of 7.0m LWS. The port basin has a minimum depth of 8.0m and maximum depth of 10.0m LWS.

Pilotage is not compulsory.

The port is sheltered and protected from sediment build up and wave action. Current: The average velocity of the current at flood tide is 1.1kts and 0.1kt at ebb tide.

The weather is usually cloudy and sometimes followed by rain. The highest rainfall occurs from Sep-Jan while the lowest is from Feb-May. Wind: The wind is usually from NE and N with average velocity 4-6kts. The windiest months are Feb, Jun-Aug. Temperature: Daily range from 23°-31°C. Visibility: In clear condition visibility can be 20km. However, there may be cloud or fog in the mornings reducing visibility to approx 5km. Foggy conditions during Jan and Feb reduces the visibility range to 1-3km.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0000-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0000-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Coastal Radio Station: Kuala Langsa Radio/ PKA 22 owned by Navigation of Belawan. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
