Lhoknga (IDLHK)

The port handles cement cargoes and local produce. Extensive reconstruction works have been undertaken since the Tsunami incident.

Lhoknga is situated at the northern end of the Sumatera peninsula, facing the Indian Ocean.

LOA 109.9m, draught 9.1m, 10,000DWT, beam 23.8m.

The outer anchorage is approx 2nm NW of Lhoknga Harbour Light in a depth of 22.0m.

The approach to the harbour is from the W from the vicinity of the pilot boarding position. The jetty is marked by Lhoknga Light (green beacon, about 11m in height), exhibited from the end of the breakwater.

Lhoknga Harbour Light is a green beacon, 1.25nm S of Lhoknga.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0000-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0000-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Port authority monitors Ch 16, 12, 13 and 14 from 0800-1200hrs and 1600-1800hrs local time.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document. Crews from communist countries are not allowed to disembark whilst in port.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
