Oktyabrsk is one of the most modern port of Ukraine specialising in shipping and storage of metals, boxes, pallets, containers, oversized cargo and various type of dry bulk goods.

Summer Zone for vessels over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for vessels of 100m or less in length, Winter Dec 1 to Feb 28/29, Summer Mar 1 to Nov 30.

Oktyabrsk (alternative name Olviya) is located in the northern part of the Dnieprovsko-Bugsky estuary.

Max LOA 230m, beam 35m, draught 10.3m, 84,904DWT.

Approx 1,606,000t of various import/export cargoes handled annually.

No 363 for vessels up to 9.8m fresh water draught.

The port is situated on the N bank of the Yuzhny (South) Bug River, 36nm upriver from the Black Sea on the Bugsko-Dneprovsko-Limanskiy Canal. This stretch has 11 bends of which 5 pass through Dneprovskiy Canal and 6 pass through the Yuzhny Bug River. Most of the channel is restricted by 9.8m fresh water draught, 215m LOA and 30m beam.

Compulsory. Pilots normally board vessels at the approach to the outer roads of Yuzhny, 46°31.0'N 030°57.2'E.

Tugs assistance is compulsory for vessels more than 187m LOA. There 3 tugs available, 2x1200hp and 1x2310hp.

Prevailing winds: Winter N'ly, NE'ly, W'ly, NW'ly and summer NE'ly, S'ly and SE'ly. Ice: Ice begins to form in the second half of December and disappears from the channel and estuary in March.
