Skadovsk (UASKD)

Skadovsk handles mainly cargo/passenger and ferry shipping. Skadovsk also includes the subports of Genichesk and Khorly. Genichesk: Open from April to November. Khorly: Currently closed, but plans to re-open are under consideration. Current status Closed. No port calls since 27/07/2021.

Port Skadovsk is situated on the Northern shore of Djarylgachsky Bay in the Black Sea. Genichesk: Port Genichesk is situated on the W side of the Sea of Azov in position: 46°09'N 034°48'E, approx 160km E of Skadovsk. Khorly: Situated on the N Shore of Djarylgachsky Bay, 27km E of Skadovsk.

LOA 140m, draught 6.0m, 3,000DWT.

Anchorage No 371 for vessels awaiting Port Skadovsk entrance is situated in the middle of Djarylgachsky Bay, 0.8nm SW of the port, and is sheltered from the winds of all direction except Eastern. The depths are 4.0-8.2m, ground is grey silt and shell with a good anchor holding. There is no anchorage on the inner roads. The anchorage is open for W'ly and SE'ly winds. During ice condition all vessels bound for port Skadovsk, when awaiting a pilot and port entrance permission, should anchor at No 372. Anchorage at No 371 in ice conditions is allowed only with the Harbour Master's permission. Genichesk: Vessels entering Genichesk lie at anchor in Genichesk roads. Khorly: Anchorage No 372 for vessels awaiting port point Khorly entrance is situated in the outer road of port point Khorly, to the W of Kalanchakskaya and Churumskaya banks. The anchorage is exposed to W and SW winds.

The port approach channel is 1.2nm long and 50m wide and a depth of 4.8m. Genichesk: The approach channel is 1.3nm long with 4.5m depth.

Admiralty Pilot NP24.

Pilotage in the port and port point is compulsory. Port entry, departure and shifting berth is possible 24 hours a day only with a pilot. To call a pilot the vessel's Master should submit his request to the Harbour Master 24 hours before the vessel approaches Djarylgachsky Lighthouse, which is mounted on the Cape Djarylgachsky. The request should be confirmed 6 hours before the operation. Vessels of less than 500GT, less than 50m in length and less than 3.5m draught can be relieved from pilotage. The pilot boards in the area of Skadovsky Approach Fairway Lightbuoy (during ice conditions in the Djarlgachsky Lighthouse area). Genichesk: Pilot boards in the area of Light Buoy No 2. Khorly: Pilot boards in the area of Khorlovsky Light Buoy No 8.

The port waters lie within the following lines: E boundary line runs from 46°06.48'N 032°55.20'E to 46°02.83'N 032°6.60'E. W boundary line runs from 46°05.50'N 032°4.60E to 46°5.90'N 032°3.95'E, then along the Northern and Western edges of Anchorage No 371 to position 46°4.20'N 0323.40'E; then to position 46°2.32'N 032°6.20'E. In the N and SE, the limits follow the coast.

The alignment (012°) of leading lights leads through the channel into the harbour.

The traffic in the approach channel and port points is one way. Port entry and departure operates all year round. When visibility is poor, less than 0.2nm and the wind speed is 27kts and more, port entry, departure and mooring is forbidden. Ro-Ro style vessels, ferryboats and vessels over 100m length are not allowed to enter/leave the port when wind speed is 19kts or more. Vessels of 500GT and above should not exceed 4.5kts in port waters. For vessels with less than 500GT the speed should not exceed 6kts. When leaving or entering the port or ports points, the speed should not exceed 3kts.

Orders for tug towing should be submitted by the Vessel Master via VHF to the Port Operator not later than 3 hours before towing operations. Genichesk: One port tug - Zenit - is available, capacity 225hp.

Vessels may only enter the port with the permission of the Port Control Inspection (PCI). Until this is granted and a pilot obtained, vessels should lie at anchor in the outer roads of the port. Requests for icebreakers should be submitted by the vessel's Master to the Port Director General 24 hours prior to arrival. Genichesk: Arrival and departure is possible 24 hours a day, except for vessels over 75m LOA which may move only during daylight hours.
