🧭 Navigation Information
Anchorages
Anchorage may be obtained in the inner harbour, by vessels drawing up to 6.5m, with stern mooring to dolphins standing on the S side. Anchorage is also available approx. 60° 57.000'N 17° 12.000'E, the inner roadstead has depths ranging from 15 - 17m, bottom is sand, gravel and clay.
Approaches
Approach from seaward on a WSW course passing 2.25nm S of Gashallan. A vessel from S can follow the directions for the S approach to Saltarsfjarden until E of the buoy (spar) marking Forstugrund. Then continue on a NW course keeping 0.3nm NE of the buoy (spar; N cardinal) marking Valkommen (60°57.4'N 017°15.7'E) with a depth of 7.0m over it, then alter course WSW. Steer WSW with Hallstensoren Light (60°57.1'N 017°11.2'E) (white lantern on an orange framework tower, elevation 6.0m) on the NW side of the fairway bearing 248.5° which leads 0.5nm N of the Bjorn Beacon and between the buoys (spar) marking the seaward entrance of the channel. When 1.1nm from Hallstensoren Light structure alter course to bring Ryttarharet Light (60°56.7'N 017°11.0'E) (white lantern; elevation 3.0m) ahead bearing 234°. This stretch of the channel leads through the roadstead N of Domanskar where anchorage can be obtained in depths of 15.0-17.0m, sand, gravel and clay. When 0.3nm from Ryttarharet Light structure alter course to 244° on to the line of Norrsundet Leading Lights (red triangles with black stripe, on posts, elevations 11m and 8.0m) at Granskar near the head of the harbour, which leads through a short stretch of dredged channel, width 30m, with a depth of 7.1m, marked by lightbuoys (spar). Then the fairway leads generally SW, well marked by lightbuoys and buoys (spar), to quays in the harbour. At night approach from seaward in the white sector of Hallstensoren Light bearing between 244° and 253°, which leads into the white sector of Ryttarharet Light bearing between 230° and 237°, which leads to the line of the leading lights.
