Approaches
Approaches: From a position approx 0.2nm N of Gustaf Dalen Lighthouse, the fairway, marked by lights, buoys (lateral) and lightbuoys, leads 12nm generally NW to the anchorage area close to the outer end of the entrance channel. Norra Lillhammarsgrund Leading Lights: Front light (red triangle, yellow stripe on concrete base, (58°40.5'N 017° 19.4'E). Rear light Trutbadan Light (red triangle, yellow stripe, on framework tower) exhibited from the E side of Trutbadan, 3nm NW of front light. Then the track leads NW for 60nm to the anchorage area and entrance channel, by night in the white sector (113.5-119.5°) astern of Lillhammarsgrund Light, passing: SW of Skrapan (1nm NW) and 8.0m shoal marked by a buoy (port hand). SW of Berggrund (1.75nm NW) a shoal area with a least depth of 2.2m over it closest to the fairway. NNE of Stoten (2.25nm WNW) marked by a buoy (port hand). NNE of Kampensbade Beacon (3nm WNW), where the channel to Oxelsund Jarnverkshamnen branches W, then, Close SW of Orskbaken S (4nm NW) marked by a lightbuoy (S cardinal) SW of Ledskar Light (white lantern, 58°42.1'N 017°13.5'E) exhibited from an islet on the NE side of the fairway. NE of Kolhalsen Light, (white tower, floodlit, 7.0m in height, 58°41.5'N 017° 10.7'E), exhibited from a rock at the N side of the entrance to Alofjarden, then, to a position W of Salgrund Light (green hut, white band, 58°43.0'N 017° 08.7'E), exhibited from an islet at the NW end of Orsbaken. The principal entrance to the harbour is through Lindokanalen. The entrance is marked by buoys (lateral) and light beacons on the alignment of the leading lights, initially through the NW part of Orsbaken and Skanssundet, then through Mellanfjarden and Stadsfjarden. Local knowledge is required for a secondary approach channel, marked by buoys, lightbuoys and beacons. The NW extension of Havringe S entrance, leads NW through the shoals and the E part of Alofjarden to join the main channel in the NW part of Orsaken near the outer end of the entrance channel. Entrance channel: Sjosa Leading Lights: Front light (white triangle on green dolphin, 58°44.3'N 017°06.4'E) exhibited from a dolphin on the N edge of the channel. Rear light (white triangle on black dolphin, 800m NW of front light). The channel, well marked by pairs of light and buoys, is entered 0.35nm NW of Salgrund Light (58°43.7'N 017°08.7'E) on the alignment 320° of the above lights which leads 1.25nm NW through Skanssundet, passing NE of Nasudden Light (red dolphin, 58°43.7'N 017°07'3'E) exhibited from the W side of the channel. The channel then leads 3nm through Mellanfjarden and Stadsfjarden to the harbour, on the alignment of a series of leading lights. Lindokanalen, depth 9.5m, leads from the SW end of the channel through Pampusfjarden, for approx 2nm to the quays at Norrkoping.
