Termoli (ITTMI)

The port has facilities for liquid cargo, general cargo, fishing and a passenger ferry terminal, which operates services to the Tremiti Islands and the Croatian coast.

Termoli port is located on the Adriatic coast of Italy, in the province of Campobasso, region of Molise.

Anchorage may be obtained 1.5-2.0nm N or NE of Termoli in 18.0-20.0m, sand, good holding ground, but with no shelter from winds from N to SE through E. Vessels waiting to berth must anchor at the designated anchorage, centred 3nm NNE of Termoli in depths of about 27.0m.

The harbour is entered via the port approach channel which leads from a point 135° x 0.37nm, from the light at the head of Diga Foranea, towards the harbour entrance. The appproach channel has a width of 60m and a max draught of 5.3m is permitted, subject to type of vessel and weather conditions. The harbour master should be contacted for latest details.

Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 500GT and which are not on regular services. Pilot boards 1nm from the port entrance.

Entry and departure should preferably be made during daylight, The approach channel should be used by all vessels with draught exceeding 2.5m.

Prevailing winds: NE'ly in the winter. SE winds raise a sea in the entrance and a swell in the harbour.

Before entering the port, and at least 1nm from the entrance, vessels should contact the harbour master on VHF Ch 16 to obtain entry permission. Vessels carrying dangerous or polluted goods must report to the port captain, 6 hours in advance of arrival.

Vessels carrying dangerous cargo: Tankers of 1,600GT and over carrying petroleum, gas and other flammable cargoes, either totally or partially laden and including those empty but not yet declared gas free. All such vessels are required to send a report to the port captain, before entering territorial waters, maintain contact, advising of any navigational defects, and to employ a pilot outside compulsory pilotage areas whenever conditions of cargo or navigation require.
