Termini Imerese (ITTRI)

The port handles general cargo, passenger and the ENEL Pier, 1.7nm E, handles FO for the thermo electric power station.

Termini Imerese is located on the N coast of Sicily, approx 38km from Palermo.

Vessels in the roads waiting to enter the port or to carry out operations at the pier of the thermo electric power station Pontile ENEL, 1.8nm E, can anchor exclusively in one of the designated anchor berths and established by the maritime authority. Berths A1 and A2 are reserved for tankers. Berths A3, A4 and B1 are for the use of dry cargo vessels. B1 berth lies outside the pilotage area. Masters of vessels arriving must report the preferred berth by VHF, requesting the necessary authorisation. To anchor in positions other than those above, for particular circumstances, or because of adverse weather conditions, authorisation should be requested from the local maritime navigation office.

The port is approached from the open sea and entered S of the head of Diga Forenea.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels berthing at the ENEL pier and is available between 0700hrs and 1900hrs. Pilot boards at the entrance to the port Vessels of more than 500 gt must employ the berthing assistance offered.

The harbour is well sheltered from N and W winds. SW winds descent violently from the mountains but do not raise a sea and are not considered dangerous. Caution: The SE wind (Scirocco) descends very violently from the E of Monte Santo Calegero and raises disturbed seas in the entire harbour and places vessels berthed in the EW part at risk. In these circumstances it is advisable to move outside the harbour and anchor in the roads in the lee of Monte Santo Calegero, where the bottom holds reasonable well, or outside Diga Foranea over a sandy bottom.
