Golfo Aranci (ITGAI)

The port, which is under the joint port authority of Olbia and Golfo Aranci, is primarily a deep water ferry port with facilities for fishing vessels.

Summer.

Golfo Aranci is situated 19km N of Olbia on the NE coast of Sardinia.

Outer anchorages: Anchorage can be obtained at Berths A and B. Prohibited anchorages: Anchoring, stopping and fishing are prohibited within the TSS and an area extending 0.5nm SW from the harbour.

The port is approached through the Traffic Separation System, which leads WSW through the N side of Golfo di Olbia. The approach has minimum depths of 10m.

Pilotage is available on request.

Speed limits apply to high speed craft and any vessel of 50GT or greater. Navigation within 300m of the commercial berths is prohibited when ferries are berthing or unberthing.

Range 0.5m. Strong offshore winds, most common during the winter, will reduce predicted tidal heights. Strong onshore winds will increase predicted tidal heights.

A Traffic Separation Scheme leads WSW through the N part of Golfo di Olbia. A traffic separation zone separates it from the TSS leading to and from Porto di Olbia. There is an associated Inshore Traffic Zone leading S of Isolotto di Figarolo. The TSS is not IMO adopted. The Italian authorities advise that the principles for the use of the routeing system defined in Rule 10 of 'The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea' apply.

Prevailing winds: S'ly, however, the Maestrale (NW'ly wind) can be exceptionally violent.
