Skagastrond (ISSKA)

The harbour suitable for small craft. The port is known as fishing port and mostly handles fish.

North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone I, Winter Oct 16 to Apr 15, Summer Apr 16 to Oct 15.

Skagastrond is located on the S side of the Spakonufellshofdhi peninsula.

LOA 22.0m, beam 5.0m, draught 4.0m.

Anchorage located in a depth of approx 13m, good holding ground, lies approx 0.25nm SSW of Spakonufellshofdhi. The anchorage is not good in unsettled weather, in spite of good holding ground, as there is no shelter from onshore gales. If approaching from the N in low visibility, allowance should be made for the strong N-going currents which set along the coast.

The approach to Skagastrond and the anchorage is indicated by the alignment on a bearing of 082°, of a beacon standing on the shore at Holanes with the tower of a new church situated 224m E. There is a light exhibited from each mark.

A light structure, a grey concrete tower, height 4m, stands on the W jetty head.
