Stykkisholmur (ISSTY)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. A small natural harbour, giving limited accommodation for vessels under 2,000t. A wooden pier extends from the shore abreast the town to a rocky islet in mid channel between the mainland and Sugandisey; on the W side of the islet is a wooden jetty 30m long, with a depth alongside of 5.0m. A small jetty, the outer end of which nearly dries, extends N into the harbour 0.25nm E of the root of the pier; only suitable for small fishing craft.

Stykkisholmur is located on the W coast of Iceland.

Large vessels may anchor in approx 27m, sand, good holding ground, on the E side of Sugandisey, N of Svartitangi, a point 0.2nm E of the town.

The harbour can be approached from N or S channels. It is inadvisable to approach Stykkisholmur without local knowledge, if it is essential to do so then the N channel is recommended.

Pilotage is available for the port and the inner part of Breidhafjordhur.
