Singkawang (IDSKW)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The port consists of a roadstead anchorage for foreign ocean-going vessels and a lighterage jetty also used for inter island traffic. The main export trade consists of rubber and coconut oil.

Singkawang is situated 2nm above the entrance of the Sungai Singkawang on the W coast of the island of Borneo.

There is good anchorage off the mouth of Sungai Singkawang.

The port channel is approx 5km long, 40m wide, with a depth of 3.0m. Passage over the bar is difficult even for small craft. The port basin measure approx 10,000mІ with depths varying from 4.0-7.0m.

The anchorage may become unsafe between Oct and Feb.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Sailing Declaration The agent will deliver the special forms onboard the vessel when alongside.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
