Penuba (IDPNG)

The port consist of anchorage area for STS operation.

Tropical.

Penuba is situated on the E coast of an island of the same name, off the N coast of Singkep Island.

Max draught 2.8m.

Anchorage can be obtained in Selat Penuba close S of the channel along the W side of Penuba Island in a depth of 22.0 or in the channel 0.5nm within the entrance, where the tidal streams are less. The holding ground in Selat Penuba, S of Penuba Island is bad, being rock.

Penuba Channel: When approaching from E, the swept channel should be used, then the channel between Tengah Island and Serang Island, which is preferable to the channel between Tengah Island and Kekek Island. Penuba Island lies close under the Selajar coast and 1.75nm W of Kekek Island. A narrow, but deep, channel between Penuba Island and Selajar Island is entered from W between Tanjung Tungai (Tungar), the S point of Selajar Island, and the S end of Penuba Island. This channel is marked by beacons which are privately maintained.

A light is exhibited on the E side of Penuba Island.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0000-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0000-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document. Crews from communist countries are not allowed to disembark whilst in port.

Sailing Declaration The agent will deliver the special forms onboard the vessel when alongside.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
