Pangkal Balam (IDPGX)

The port is a seaport in Pangkal Pinang. The port sits close to the mouth of Baturusa River. The port serves international cargo, container, passengers, Ro-Ro and liquid activities.

Tropical.

The port of Pangkal Balam is situated on the E coast of Bangka Island off the E coast of Sumatra.

LOA 140m, draught 5.0m, 2,000DWT.

Approximate 1,600,000t of cargo, 39,100 TEU and 107,200 passengers are handled annually.

There is an anchorage off the mouth of Sungai Baturusa. There is also an anchorage approx 100m off the wharves in a depth of 8.0m, mud and sand.

There is a green buoy, at the entrance to the channel in position 02°06.1'S 106°12.1'E. Leading light beacons, situated on the S side of the river entrance, in line 283.75°, lead into the river; each light beacon has a white triangular daymark, the front point down and the rear point up. No 3 Buoy (conical, black) is moored on the N side of the channel 0.5nm E of the front light beacon.

The port limits extend approx 6nm.

Entry over the bar is limited to vessels of 140m in length and 30m beam and in daylight only. Entry is limited to vessels with a max draught of 5.0m.

Range 2.5m above LWS. Tidal streams in the river are semi diurnal.

Two tugs up to 200hp available.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival. Master to cable Harbour Master 2 days prior to arrival.

The vessel's entering and departure time should note the high and low tide and standby on VHF Ch 16 for traffic information.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
