Anyer Terminal (IDANR)

The terminal, in the port area of Jakarta, is used mainly for the handling of petrochemical products for the chemical plant which, together with storage tanks, occupies an area near the root of the jetties. Chemical commodities are also exported. This busy terminal handles considerable tonnage each year and is constantly growing in size.

Anyer Terminal is situated on the W coast of Java, close SW of Merak, in the Sunda Strait.

LOA 260m, beam 45m, draught 13.0m, 119,456DWT.

Anchorage with good holding ground lies from 0.5nm to 1nm off Berth No 1 in a depth of 20.0m. A waiting area with good anchorage also exists approx 2nm SW of Pulau Ular in depths of 20.0-30m, coral/sand bottom. The tidal stream is strong in this area. It is advised to pay out substantial amounts of chain in order to retain the anchor position. Caution: Volcano activity has been reported in areas between Rakata and Sebesi Island. Vessels are advised to avoid this area.

Directions: Vessels normally berth port side alongside in daylight hours stemming the NE going tidal stream. It is recommended that the approach course be nearly parallel with the line of the berth and that when 100m off the berth an anchor be used, for hauling off, and the vessel hove into position alongside using head and stern lines.

Vessels berthing at Berth No 1 should allow 2.0m clearance on account of the swell conditions in NW monsoon period and should have extra mooring lines available. A lightbuoy (special) is moored close W of the SW dolphin at Berth No 1.

Pilotage is compulsory and is arranged by the Harbour Master at Merak. It is available at 4 hours notice from boarding position 06°01.7'S 105°56.1'E. Master and/or agent should advise any change in ETA. A 24 hour service is available. There are 2 Pilot Offices in Banten area: 1. Pilot Office under Sub. Dinas Perhubungan Laut- Cilegon. They are working at channel 15 & 16 with call sign "PAPA CHARLY" 2. Pilot Office under PT. (Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II - Banten. They are working at channel 12 with call sign "KILO BRAVO"

Pulau Ular (6°00.6'S 105° 55.6'E) is a good navigation mark point. Height 47m, light house could be helpful to approach area.

Berthing is carried out in daylight hours only. Unberthing is arranged day or night. During most of the period of the NW monsoon (Nov-Mar) the berths can become unusable.

Tidal streams can attain rates up to 6kts parallel with Berth No 1.

Several tugs are available. Sub Dinas Perhubungan laut - Cilegon - The horse power of tug boat between 3500 HP until 4500 HP. PT.(Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II - Cabang banten - The horse power of tug boat between 1080 HP until 3500 HP.

The berths are fully exposed to winds from SSW through W to NE, and even in calm weather there is a continual swell from NW.
