Bekapai Terminal (IDBEK)

Bekapai is an offshore oil loading terminal. Vessels proceed alongside a storage vessel of 35,000DWT moored to an SBM, fitted with a radar reflector.

Bekapai Terminal is situated in the Macassar Strait off the E coast of Borneo.

An open sea anchorage area, 2nm radius, is established S of the oilfield with centre in 01°03'S 117°31'E.

A flare and numerous lighted structures, unlit objects and below water obstructions exist in the field.

Berthing takes place during daylight only. The oil field is an Entry Restricted Area. Restricted area marked by numerous platform structures, lights (white 2m tall metal poles), other unlit objects, submerged obstructions and buoys. Unauthorised navigation is to be avoided within 500m of all such structures.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Ch 16, 09, 19.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Send ETA 72, 48 and 24 hours in advance through Balikpapan Radio, callsign "PKN". Listening watch should be maintained on VHF Ch 16 while at the terminal.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed at the major ports.
