Gulfhavn (DKGFH)

The port of Gulfhaven is a "T" shaped structure and comprises an approach pier which extends 306m from shore and a pier head which is 500m in length, with facilities for three berths. The port is operated by Energi E2 A/S and operates as a storage facility for oil products. The nearby Stignaes Oilpier is under separate entry.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Gulfhavn is situated on the Cape of Stignaes, Denmark.

LOA 277.36m, beam 48m, draught 15.6m, 157,010DWT.

Good anchorage in Korsor Roads, with an area of 2.0nmІ where the depth is 20m with sand bottom and good holding and at Gulfhaven Roads, with an area of 1.5nmІ where the depth is 30m with clay bottom, good holding. Power cables running between Zealand and Agerso Island must be avoided.

Navigation to the jetty takes place through the "T" route of Agerso Sund.

Safe mooring is the responsibility of the vessel's Master. Energi E2 will, if mooring of vessels is considered unsatisfactory, have the right to request improvement. If wires are used for mooring, then wire tail has to be nylon or rope.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 1,500DWT. Pilots board at either Korsoer Roads or at Egholm Flak. The pilot may be requested to board arriving vessels at any place in the proximity of Gulfhavn. The terminal requires that pilots act as a Berthing Master for all vessels greater than 4,500GT berthing and departing any berth at Gulfhavn. In cases when a pilot is not used the Master of the vessel acts as Berthing Master.

The territorial sea belonging to the port is bordered as follows: ..... 1. North West: By a straight line through the NW side of the northernmost caisson perpendicular to Berth No 2, marked by a yellow marker post on shore in line with the mentioned side of the caisson. 2. South East: By a straight line through the SE side of the southernmost caisson perpendicular to Berth No 1, marked by a yellow marker post on shore in line with the mentioned side of the caisson. 3. South West: By a straight line at right angles to lines mentioned under points 1 and 2 at a distance of 100m towards sea from Berth No 1. 4. North East: By the coast line between the lines mentioned under 1 and 2.

Leading lights in line bearing 064°, are exhibited at elevations of 4.0m and 7.0m, from 2 masts on the shore near the ferry berth. Oil Pier lights are exhibited at Berth No 1, from 2 grey metal masts, spaced 50m apart in the centre of the berth. A sector light is exhibited from an iron mast, 10m in height, in the centre of the pier head; it is privately maintained and exhibited only when a vessel is expected.

Power cables running between Zealand and Agerso Island must be avoided.

The mean water level is 0.0m. The average tidal range is 0.3m. Extreme high water level is plus 1.2m, whereas the extreme low water level is minus 1.2m. The current reaches a max rate of 2kts.

As there are presently no tugs stationed at Gulfhavn, it takes at least 12 hours to make arrangements for the attendance of tugs for berthing operations. The agent will keep the terminal informed and make the necessary arrangements for the attendance of tugs for berthing operations.

Prevailing winds: From SW to NW. Wind velocities exceeding 29kts occur on an average of approx 18hrs per year from SW, 15hrs from W and 39hrs from NW. The pier is protected by the Agerso Island against swells coming from the W and NW and the mean wave height, for a wind velocity of 29kts from these wind directions, will only be about 0.15m. Lyngby Radio (the only coast radio station in Denmark) is recommended for passing messages. The station works throughout 24 hours. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Gulfhavn: Ch 12, 16. The port should be contacted on Ch 16, 1 hour prior to arrival, during office hours.

Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs Officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.

Should be communicated by the Master to his agent 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival and as soon as possible if changes in ETA are foreseen.

During transfer operations all vessels shall show signal flag "B" during the day and a red light visible through 360° from sunset to sunrise.

A ship/shore safety checklist as well as the ISPS checklist must be completed and signed for all vessels prior to commencement of cargo operations. Additionally, product vessels must complete a vessel information sheet before loading. On arrival the vessel will be boarded by one of Energi E2's representatives who will discuss the discharging/loading operation with the Master or his delegate, acquaint him with up to date information concerning the cargo and verify that the vessel is ready in all respects for the discharging/loading operation. Adequate lifting facilities to assist in hose connecting and handling of necessary hose equipment should be ready on arrival. Ships crews are expected to assist with hose handling. It is essential for vessels to use their own gangways and to arrange them in such a way that there is a safe passage from ship to shore. A lifebuoy with not less than 30m of lifeline attached shall be positioned on the vessel near the gangway.

Pratique is not required for Danish ports. Agent may request a Maritime Declaration of Health from the Master. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed in large ports.
