An-Ping (TWAPG)

An-Ping, an affiliated harbour to Kaohsiung, is a multipurpose commercial and fishing port. The main cargoes handled include construction, chemical, plastics, steel products, containers and passengers. The port is expected to become a transhipment centre in the near future.

Summer.

The port of An-Ping is on the SW coast of Chinese Taipei, approx 22nm N of Kaohsiung.

LOA 226.27m, beam 49m, draught 10.0m, 61,908DWT.

Approx 1,500,000t of cargo 1,700 vessels and 14,000 passengers handled annually.

The Anchorage Area No 1 is within a radius of 1nm from An-Pin Signal Station (22°58.0'N 120°08.9'E). The depth in the anchorage area is 15.0m. The roadstead is sheltered from the prevailing winds of the NE monsoon during the winter, but it is exposed to SW winds which predominate during the summer and at times becomes untenable.

The width of the main channel is 180m. There are no navigation buoys but there are 3 leading lights on both sides. The depth of the navigation channel is 11.5m, with depths on berths from 7.5-11.0m.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 500GT. Pilot boards 1nm off the breakwater.

An-Pin Lighthouse (22°59.6'N 120°08.3'E), height 22m. Two lighthouses on seawalls (22°58.0'N 120°08.8'E and 22°58.1'N 120°09.0'E). Three leading lights at the northern revetment of the main channel and 3 at the southern end.

MHWS 1.5m, MHWN 1.1m, MLWS 0.7m and MLWN 0.4m.

VTS is in operation and vessels should report to the Control Tower 2 hours prior to arrival.

6 x 1,800hp and 8 x 3,200hp tugs are available from the Kaohsing Harbour Bureau through agent. Each tug has fire protection facilities.

ETA to be advised 24 hours prior to arrival. The ETA message should include the draught, quantity of cargo and stowage list. When within 15nm of the harbour, contact the Harbour Authority on VHF Ch 16, 12 and 14.

Pratique should be applied for between 4 and 72 hours prior to arrival. Ship Sanitation Control or Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificates can be renewed.

NOR should be tendered as soon as vessel has arrived/anchored. Tender NOR with Master's arrival declaration cable.
