Norrtalje (SENOE)

The port handles passengers and cruise.

Norrtalje is located at the head of Norrtaljeviken, on the E coast of Sweden, approx 13km NW of Furusund.

Anchorage may be obtained in the roads W of Harko Light in depths of 10-20m, clay. Caution: Submarine power cables are laid along the limits of the dredged areas to No 1 and No 2 Lights.

See Kapellskar for seaward approaches. The port is inland from Kapellskar from where the pilots board. The harbour is approached through Norrtaljeviken and entered on an alignment of leading lights through a dredged channel known as Norrtaljerannan. The entrance channel and outer harbour is dredged to a max depth of 6.6m. Directions for entry: From a position approx 0.5nm WSW of Harko Light 59° 45.6'N 018°45.6'E, the alignment (259°) of these lights lead approx 0.7nm WSW to the harbour.

Pilotage is compulsory. Ordering a pilot should be carried out via the e-Services section on the Swedish Maritime Administration website (www.sjofartsverket.se) in conjunction with reporting on the Vessel Reporting System (FRS) section. Preliminary request for a pilot should be made 24 hours in advance with a definitive request 5 hours prior to arrival at Kapellskar pilot station. Pilot boarding positions: ..... SE of Tjarven 59°46.5'N 019°23.5'E NW of Tjarven 59°48.0'N 019°19.8'E Simpnas (closed in ice conditions) 59°55.3'N 019°04.1'E Sandhamn (E Entrance) 59°15.0'N 019°01.0'E The pilot vessels at Kapellskar consists of a heavy and fast cutter with boarding speeds of 6kts and 8kts respectively. Due to the risk of icing during the winter, the pilot ladder should not be hung too early.

Norrtalje Leading Lights: Front light (orange triangle, point up on mast. 59° 45.6'N 018°45.6'E), displayed from the S side of the harbour. Rear light: (similar structure, triangle point down), 95m WSW of front light.

The approach and entrance channel has a speed restriction of 5kts.
