π Port Overview
β ISPSβ ECA
The name of the port is derived from the Yamburg Gas Field, discovered in 1969. Port facilities were constructed in the early 1980s as the base of operations for the exploration and development of the Gas Field. Yamburg is a company town with the majority of its 5,000 to 6,000 residents being non-indigenous and employees of Gazprom. Considering its northerly location and severe Winters, there are good transport facilities including an airport, as well as river, road and railway connections to other parts of Russia.
