The port is situated on the borders of three countries; North Korea, Russia and China (mainland) and is in a sheltered position in the SW of Troitsy Bay (Silach Harbour) along the coast from Cape Shultz. Navigation in the port is possible all year round without icebreaker assistance. First ice appears at the end of Nov, steady ice formation starts in the middle of Dec. The port is open to all vessels. Geographically, Zarubino is an important location for international trade, cargo now being transported from China (mainland) to South Korea via the Russian international transport 'corridor' known as Primorye-2, which connects Posyet, Zarubino and Slavyanka ports in the southwestern part of Primorsky region with China (mainland) provinces.
