Fauske (NOFAU)

Fauske is a small town surrounded by several mines and quarries, producing high quality, world renowned marble for export. The village has good road and rail connections to the nearby ports of Narvik and Bodo. The quarries are served by a single concrete quay.

Fauske is located at the head of Fauskevika fjord, 23nm E of Bodo, in the county of Nordland, NW Norway.

Max LOA 98.74m, beam 17.80m, draught 6.8m and 5,065DWT.

Approx 18,400t of cargo handled annually.

The port is situated at the head of Fauskevika and is entered 6nm SE of Alvnestangen Light.

The approach along Skjerstadfjorden towards Fauskevika fjord is marked by the Alvnestangen and Ovnes directional lights to port. Fauskevika fjord itself is free from hazards in the fairway.

Submerged cables are located in the fairway, and at the NE tip of the fjord, close to Brekke. There is also a submerged rock on the N shore, close to the centre of Fauske.

Ostbo AS's waste reception is located in close proximity making it possible to respond quickly with the correct collection equipment for the individual vessel. International traffic may not deliver their waste to the quay. The port can offer vessels the delivery of waste at the reception facility including; residual, closed container, waste oil and lead battery. Parcels are marked with a declaration number and the declaration is signed. 5. Cargo residues are picked up directly by sludge suction machines whilst the vessel is moored to the berth.
