Flekkefjord is situated on the S coast of Norway at the head of the Stolsfjord, 80km NW of Kristiansand.

Approx 4,500t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage can be obtained anywhere in Tjorsvagbukta in depths up to 34m.

Flekkefjorden is approached from Listafjorden either by way of Stolsfjorden or through Strandsfjorden and Risholmsundet, then through the N part of Stolsfjorden. It can be approached from W by way of Hidrasundet, then through Risholmsundet. At night, from a position close W of Torsoy Light (58°16.0'N 006°40.0'E) and in the white sector of Hasund Light (W side of the entrance to Hasund), bearing between 167°-178.5°, astern, vessels should steer to bring Tjorsvagbukta Leading Lights into line, bearing 332°, which leads through the fairway of Grosundet between Gronnesgrunnen and Sveigeholmen Lights.

Not compulsory, but available, throughout 24 hours, and is requested through "Farsund Radio" (callsign "LGZ"). Pilot boards in position 58°11.0'N 006° 33.0'E (at the entrance to Listafjorden).

Torsoy Light is exhibited from a pedestal on the W side of Store Torsoya, 0.3nm N of Kjeoy. Gronnesgrunnen Light, exhibited from a post on a rock close off Gronnes, on the E side of Grosundet 1.25nm N of Store Torsoya. Sveigeholmen Light, exhibited from a post on the E side of the islet 0.1nm WSW of Gronnes. Tjorsvagbukta Leading Lights, exhibited from two posts, each surmounted by a white triangle on the N shore of the basin. In line they bear 332°. A buoy (red spar) marks the W side of the fairway at Gronsundet.

There is a speed limit of 5kts through Gronsundet and within the narrows.

Radio: Any Norwegian Coastal Radio station can be used for passing messages at long range. All coastal radio stations are operated 24 hours a day throughout the year. Inmarsat communication available up to Lat 75°N. VHF: Pilot Ch 16. Port Control Ch 12, 13, 14 and 16.

Customs: Allowance for crew and officers is that stated on the Personal Effects Declaration. Goods on the declaration are not to be taken ashore. Penalties for non compliance are severe fines. Immigration: Board at first port of call (cruise ships only). They require a Crew List and a Passenger List and will make random passport inspections. All passports should be available for a quick clearance which normally takes 15-20 minutes.

There is no need to apply for pratique. Ship Sanitation Control Certificates (SSCC) can be renewed.
