Portici (ITPTC)

The port, protected by breakwaters, has 300m of quayage with depths alongside to 5.3m. There are no cranes and ships load and discharge using their own gear. The harbour area is considered safe but the entrance may be exposed during WSW'ly gales. Water, provisions and some bunkers are available, and small repairs can be effected, but for larger repairs, towage and agency services, the relevant addresses at Naples should be contacted.

Portici lies in the Gulf of Naples, approx 8nm SE of the city of Naples.

Draught 5.3m.

Anchorage is obtainable in the roads outside the harbour, in depths of approx 15m, sand, with the head of the mole bearing 045°, distant 0.17nm. This anchorage is not recommended during S winds, but NW winds are not dangerous there.

Berthing stern to is not possible. A mooring buoy has been laid in the centre of the harbour to assist vessels in leaving.

Compulsory for vessels over 500GT.

A light structure (white metal framework tower), 14m in height, stands on the mole head, and a light structure (green post on a pedestal) stands close within the head of the spur.
