Formia (ITFOM)

It is a general cargo port formed by a breakwater and a jetty, accommodating fishing vessels only. The larger port of Gaeta is 9km S. The main cargoes handled are frozen fish and wine. .

Formia is situated on the Gulf of Gaeta on the W coast of Italy.

Length 100m, draught 5.5m.

There are no anchorage areas available in the port.

There is a light structure (red column) at the head of the breakwater which extends 260m SE from Punta di Formia, then approx 400m ENE. A light structure (green metal column on pedestal), marks an angled mole, approx 300m in length. Porticciolo di Caposele, at the SW end of Formia, is protected by two rough moles; the head of the W mole is marked by a light structure (red metal column on base) and that of the inner mole is marked by another light structure (green metal post).

VHF: Ch 16 for pilots and port. Listening watch maintained 0800-2000hrs.
