Olafsfjordur (ISOLF)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. Two jetties protected by two breakwaters with an entrance of 70m width, used by small vessels of 4.0-5.0m draught.

North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone.

At the head of Olafsfjordhur connecting to the W side of Eyjafjordur, on N coast of Iceland.

The fjord is not normally used as an anchorage as it subject to incursions of drift ice and the holding is poor. Anchorage is obtainable off Kleifar, in a depth of about 9.0m, sand, good holding ground. The approach is indicated by the alignment (223°) of a pair of beacons, front (yellow; triangle topmark) and rear (yellow; square topmark), which stand at the head of the fjord. The anchor berth is on the intersection of this alignment and the alignment (292°) of a second pair of beacons, front (yellow, diamond topmark), and rear (yellow, disc topmark), near Kleifar.

The E breakwater projecting 170m NW, has quays on its inner side, and is marked by a light (stone pillar, 4nm in height) at its head. The "L" shaped W breakwater extends 180m N from the shore, 240m E, then 80m NE; the head is marked by a light (wooden framework tower). The harbour entrance between the breakwater heads is 70m wide, with a depth of about 7.0m.
