Neendakara (INNEE)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The port no longer handles cargo ship but it is still used by a lot of fishing vessels. The port is an open roadstead with vessels anchoring approx 2km offshore. The port is closed during the monsoon season (May to Nov). Cashew is the primary export, rice and cashewnuts are the primary imports.

Neendakara is located on the Kerala coast, approx 150km NW of the southernmost tip of India.

Anchorage, for large vessels working cargo in the offing, can be obtained 1.25nm WNW of the entrance in a depth of about 7.0m. Vessels anchoring further offshore, in depths of about 15.0m, should keep well clear of the dangerous wreck lying in position 08°56.0'N 076°29.4'E. Vessels can anchor between Gamaria Rock and Pallikal Shoal at a depth of 9.0m about 1nm offshore.

The port is approached direct from seaward. There are no night marks. Vessels approaching in darkness should not proceed into depths of less than about 27.0m.

No entry restrictions as vessels load at anchor 1-1.6nm offshore.

2 tugs available for towing lighters. However no facilities exist for towing vessels.

There is no coastal radio station in the port. Messages should be sent via Bahrain or Singapore Radio. VHF: Ch 16.

Customs allowances: One bottle of liquor and one carton of cigarettes is allowed for each crew member per week. Immigration: Immigration Officials will check passports/CDC (Seaman's Books) and issue shore permits. Nationals from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China (mainland) will not be issued with landing permits.

ETA messages are to be given by master/owners to charterers/shippers or consignees 7, 5, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival or as per Charter Party.

Local port health officer grants pratique after boarding vessel.

To be tendered as per terms and conditions of Charter Party. Generally, NOR tendered by master on vessel's arrival advising that vessel is ready to load/discharge the nominated cargo.
