Krueng Geukueh (IDKGH)

The new port consists of 7 berths. Cargoes handled include bulk fertiliser, chemical, LPG, cement & general cargoes. It also used as a new offshore supply base.

Krueng Geukueh is located on the northern Sumatra coast approx 6nm from Lhokseumawe.

Harbour: LOA 169m, draught 9.5m, 15,000DWT.

Waiting anchorage is available in depths of 39m about 0.9nm NNW of the harbour entrance. There is an anchorage 1.5nm NE of the harbour entrance used by condensate tankers. The approach channel is 900m in length and 400m in width. There is a breakwater, length 500m and width 200m. Leading lights: From the vicinity of 05°18'N 097°03'E, the alignment 200° of the marks leads through the middle of the approach channel and harbour entrance. Controller Depth 9.3m.

The coastguard is co-ordinated by the LNG Search and Rescue.

Contact Blanglancang Pilot for Krueng Geukueh Port: VHF Ch 16, 12, Callsign "Blanglancang Pilot" (24 hours). Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 500GT. Vessels should send request for Pilot 6 hrs before arrival and 3hrs before departure. Pilot boards at the Condensate Tanker Anchorage (05°16.3'N 097°03.2'E) or 1nm from breakwater (05°16.0'N 097°02.1'N).

The port limits extend to "Outer" buoy, 1.5nm from the outer breakwater.

A prohibited area is established within 500m of the SPM (fixed structure) and pipeline.

Traffic schemes have not been adopted.

There are 2 tugs of 550hp, each fitted with fire fighting equipment.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. The "N" flag should be hoisted.

Ten copies of all ship's documents are required.

Should be sent 96, 72, 48, 24 and 6 hours before arrival. Pilotage should be requested 6 hours before arrival and 3 hours before departure.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
