Kuala Kapuas (IDKKA)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The port consist of a small wooden pier of 100m, catering for domestic boats carrying agricultural products to and from other parts of Kalimantan. The surrounding area of the port has been developed into a recreational park subsequent to the lower traffic volume.

Kuala Kapuas is situated in the Sungai Kapuas.

Anchorage may be obtained off Mandumai, but vessels should allow for swinging as the tidal streams are appreciable.

Port of Kuala Kapuas can be approached via Sungai Barito thence Sungai Pulaupetak, using the local knowledge throughout. This route is 10 hours longer compared to proceeding via Sungai Kapuas directly.

Kuala Kapuas is bounded by the parallel of a position 0.85nm below the flagstaff and the parallel of Tanjung Benting.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0000-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0000-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Sailing Declaration The agent will deliver the special forms onboard the vessel when alongside.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
