The port handles inter-island vessels carrying passengers and general cargo, copra and cattle are exported.

Ende is situated on the S coast of Flores Island in the bay of Ende, in East Nusa Tenggara Province.

LOA 134.86m, beam 23m, draught 7.20m, 11,427DWT.

Approx 226,000t of cargo and 55,500 passengers handled annually.

East season anchor at Ende, West season anchor at Ipi. The 37m line lies 300m off Ende, and anchorage may be obtained in depths of 55 to 66m, 500m NW of the pier. During the SE monsoon a moderate swell sets into the bay especially in the afternoon. During the NW monsoon it is better to anchor in Teluk Ipi.

Approach from the sea leads N or alternatively passing between Tanjung Iya (08° 54.0'S 121°38.0'E) and Pulan Nusaemde, 6nm farther W.

Ende is bounded by the arc of a circle, radius 1nm, centred on the pier at Ende.

A light is exhibited at an elevation of 43m in position 08°50.7'S 121°38.6'E.

Prevailing winds: Apr-Oct E'ly, Oct-Apr W'ly.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Coastal radio station.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
