Gunung Sitoli (IDGNS)

The port is a commercial port opened to foreign trade and provides transportation services to remote areas and islands in the region.

Gunung Sitoli Sea Port is located at the capital of Nias Regency. Nias is the only district in North Sumatra Province which is separated from mainland Sumatra. Gunung Sitoli seaport started operating in 2011 with geographical coordinates of 01° 17' North Latitude and 97° 37' East Longitude.

Approx 283,166t of cargo and 161,570 passengers handled annually.

Anchorage 23.0m depth, approx 500m offshore.

Entry to the port is from the open sea with depths ranging from 11.0-12.0m LWS. To the W of the port is a conspicuous hill approx 184m in height. The coast around the port consists mainly of coconut trees and the seabed is mud, coral and sand.

Wind: From Dec-May, the wind velocity range from 4-16kts with wave heights ranging from 0.5-1.5m. From Jun-Nov, wind velocity ranges from 4-21kts and wave height 0.75-2.0m. Rainfall: From Oct-Dec is rainy season with an average monthly rainfall of 350mm.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
