Rasa (HRRAS)

The port offers a naturally sheltered deep water harbour with depth up to 40m. Rasa handles mainly livestock, timber and general cargo.

Summer.

Rasa is located approx 30nm SW of Rijeka.

Max draught 8.0m.

Approx 70 vessels and 94,000t of cargo handled annually.

There is anchorage available in the vicinity of 45°01'N 014°03.3'E, W of Cape Trget in depth of 14-16m.

Zaliv Rasa is a deep water inlet approx 5nm in length, entered between Rt Ubac (44°57'N 014°04'E) and Rt Mulac (0.5nm WNW). The inlet is lighted.

Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 500GT berthing at Trget or Brsica Timber Terminal, (5nm N of Rt Ubac). Pilots are available day and night from Rijeka, 24 hours notice is required. Under normal circumstances pilots would board in the following positions ..... 1. Sv Mikula Stone Quarry 44°58.8'N 014°05.0'E 2. Brsica Timber and Cattle Terminal 45°01.0'N 014°03.2'E 3. Koromacno Cement Factory 44°56.0'N 014°06.5'E On request, pilot can also board at the entrance to Zaljev Rasa for Sv Mikula and Brsica harbours.

The following lights are positioned from Rt Ubac (44°57'N 014°04'E) as follows: ..... Light Description Rt Kucica: Red octagonal concrete tower, white base, 5m in height, 1.5nm NNE. Rt Tunarica: Red round tower, 5m in height, 2.25nm NE, on quay. Rt Sv Mikula: Red octagonal concrete tower, white base, 6m in height, 2nm NNE. Rt Prascarica: Red metal tower, 5m in height, 2.75nm N. Rt Rtac: Grey concrete hut, 6m in height, 3.5nm N, situated at the foot of Matalat. Rt Trget: White round tower, 5m in height, 4.5nm N.

Anchoring is prohibited in the vicinity of the berth at Brsica.

Max tide 0.9m.

Tugs are available from Rijeka, 10 hours notice is required.

In the winter there are strong NE and S winds together with slight swells. The Bora is severe and reaches the bay in violent gusts. It is deflected in many places causing eddies. The Scirocco causes heavy seas in the entrance and these may be felt at the head of the inlet.

72, 48 and 24 hours ETA required for tankers. For all other vessels ETA should be sent 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. 48 hours advance cargo specification is required for vessels carrying dangerous/noxious cargoes.

If a vessel does not have a Croatian flag onboard the pilot will bring the flag onboard with him if it has been ordered in advance.

Vessels sheltering from bad weather should maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch 09 and 12.

Free pratique to be requested on arrival only. Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate renewal is possible.
