Rovinj (HRROV)

The port is well protected for passenger and coastal vessels and handles mainly passenger traffic and fishing.

Summer.

Rovinj is situated on the Istra Peninsula, midway between Pula and Piran, the harbour lies to the S of the town.

LOA 200m, draught 5.5m.

Outer anchorage: Vessels may anchor during a Bora about 1.25nm WNW of Rt Sv Eufemija Ligh. Anchorage is available in Val di Bora Bay in depths of 15m. Prohibited anchorage: Anchorage is prohibited in an area marked by boards displaying inverted white anchors between the N end of Otocic Sv Katarina and the root of the angled mole, due to the presence of several underwater cables and a pipeline.

The harbour is entered directly from the open sea, avoiding the following dangers, (positioned from Rt Sv Eufemija): Otok Banjol, (1nm SW), steep to and may be passed on either side; Plicina Muntrav (0.9nm SSW) Plicina Sv Katarina, (0.6nm SSW) Plicina Skvero, (0.3nm N) Plicina Mucja, (0.5nm NNW) Plicina Figarola, (1nm NW). The approach to Juzna Luka from the S through Uvala Sabionera passes E of a buoy (E cardinal) moored on the edge of a bank with depths of less than 5.0m over it, which extends from the E extremity of Otocic Sv Katarina.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 500GT. Pilot, available day and night and boards in position 43° 05.2'N 013° 37.5'E. Pilots are requested from Pula 24 hours in advance.

Prevailing winds: Variable. Sjeverna Luka is well sheltered from the Bora, Scirocco and N and SW winds, but is exposed W and NW. In strong W and NW winds the sea floods the quay. Juzna Luka is sheltered against the Bora and Scirocco, but is exposed to W and SW winds. In strong W and SW winds the sea floods part of the angled mole.

For tankers, ETA is to be sent 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. All other vessels are to send an ETA 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. Advanced cargo specification, for vessels carrying dangerous and/or noxious cargo, is to be advised 48 hours prior to arrival.

If a vessel does not have a Croatian flag onboard the pilot will bring the flag onboard with him if it has been ordered in advance.

Free pratique to be requested on arrival only. Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate renewal is possible.

NOR is to be tendered between Mon-Thur 0800-1800hrs and Fri 0800-1400hrs.
