Cres (HRCRS)

The port is accessible to vessels of moderate size and is a busy fishing port with floating drydock facilities. There are regular local ferry services.

Port Cres is situated on the NW coast of the island of Cres, in the N part of the Adriatic Sea.

Anchorages and moorings: ..... 1. 0.25nm SE of Rt Melin in 15.0-21.0m, good holding. 2. 0.2nm E of Rt Melin in 12.0m. 3. In Uvala Kimen, 0.3nm ESE Rt Kovacine, secured by lines to bollards positioned around the shores of the small cove. 4. Two mooring buoys are situated in the S part of the harbour.

Entry is between Rt Kovacine and Rt Krizice, 0.25nm S, at the W end of a narrow channel. At its SE end the entrance channel widens into a basin, which is shallow at the S end. At the N end is a pier, and an inner harbour basin protected S by two small breakwaters and with a boat basin at its head.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 500GT. Pilots are available 24 hours a day and board in position 44°57.50'N 014°22.50'E.

Positioned from Rt Kovacine (44°58'N 014°24'E). Cres Pierhead Light (0.8nm E), white metal tower, 6m in height. Cres Marina Breakwater Head Light (1nm SE), red column with gallery, 5m in height. Cres Marina Light (1nm SE), green column with gallery, 5m in height.

The speed limit in the approach is 5kts.

The harbour is sheltered from all winds.
