Dugi Rat (HRDUR)

The port comprises one quay, 160m in length, for the discharge of ore to factories located in the town. The bay in which the port is located is sheltered by high land from the Bora, but exposed to winds and the sea. The W going tidal stream is strong in the vicinity of the berths.

Dugi Rat is located approx 23km ESE of Split on the Adriatic.

Approx 250,000t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage is available in the bay sheltered from the Bora, but not recommended in S winds. Care should be taken to avoid submarine cables laid SSW to Otok Brac.

When approaching the berths care is necessary in avoiding the shallow bank extending along the W side of Dugi Rat, marked by a lightbuoy.

Pilotage is compulsory for all foreign vessels over 500GT. The pilot embarks 0.5nm S of the breakwater at Gradska Luka, 43°30'N 016°26'E and is available day and night. Pilots can be arranged through the Harbour Authority at Split, 24 hours notice is required.

A prominent white factory W of the town, chimneys, and a disused quarry above the town are prominent features.

Customs allowances: Each crew member is allowed 200 cigarettes and a 1 litre bottle of spirit. Penalty for non compliance is confiscation.

For tankers, ETA is to be sent 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. All other vessels are to send an ETA 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. Advanced cargo specification, for vessels carrying dangerous and/or noxious cargo, is to be advised 48 hours prior to arrival.

If a vessel does not have a Croatian flag onboard the pilot will bring the flag with him if it has been ordered in advance.
