Hvar (HRHVA)

The port consists of 1 main quay with depths alongside of 6.0m. The harbour is situated in the N inlet of Luka Hvar and is suitable for yachts.

Summer.

Hvar port is located in a sheltered inlet at the western end of the island of Hvar, approx 38km S of Split.

Draught 5.2m.

Larger vessels may anchor in the western part of the harbour, in depths of up to 29.2m, moored stern-on to stone bollards.

The port of Hvar can be approached from either end of Pakleni Kanal. The harbour is entered directly from the channel avoiding a shoal extending approx 0.1nm W from Otocic Galisnik. Caution: The channel between Otocic Galisnik and Krizni Rat, approx 0.1nm E in which there are depths from 6.0 to 8.0m, should not be used by vessels leaving Luka Hvar, and is a prohibited anchorage area.

The port is partly protected by Otocic Galisnik, 43°10.0'N 016°26.5'E and affords shelter from the Bora, which although very squally is of moderate strength. The Scirocco is the strongest wind. S and NW winds occasionally cause a considerable sea, which can be troublesome to vessels berthed alongside in the harbour.

For tankers, ETA is to be sent 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. All other vessels are to send an ETA 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. Advanced cargo specification, for vessels carrying dangerous and/or noxious cargo, is to be advised 48 hours prior to arrival.

If a vessel does not have a Croatian flag onboard the pilot will bring the flag onboard with him if it has been ordered in advance.
