San Lorenzo (HNSLO)

The port, situated in an estuary with a mangrove swamp, handles a variety of cargoes.

North Atlantic Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Nov 1 to Jul 15, Summer Jul 16 to Oct 31.

San Lorenzo is located on the left bank of Estero San Lorenzo on the Pacific coastline of Honduras.

LOA 228.6m, beam 35.4m, draught 9.5m, 74,908DWT.

Approx 2,400,000t of cargo, 19,000TEU and 180 vessels handled annually.

Vessels can anchor, in a depth of 8.0m, approx. 0.78nm SSW of the main pier.

The access channel is well buoyed for day and night access. The approach channel is approx 16nm long with a depth of approx 9.1m MLW and 10.6m MHW.

Puerto de Henecan is an alternative name for San Lorenzo.

Generally there are 2 mooring gangs on pier. No special requirements.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 300GT. Pilots can be requested by contacting the Agent's office or through VHF channels 06, 10 or 16. Vessels should call the pilot vessel on VHF Ch 16, 1 hour prior to arrival at the outer fairway buoy, where pilot will board. Pilot boards in approx position 13° 12.1'N 087°35.3'W prior to entering the channel. No special requirements for boarding.

Port limits are reported to lie between 13°21.9'N 087°26.3'W and 13°24.9'N 087°25.2'W.

Daylight navigation is recommended, however vessels can arrive and sail throughout 24 hours.

Spring 3.7m, neap 2.1m.

One 1,300hp tug available. One tug is compulsory for berthing and unberthing vessels of 300GT and over (2 tugs are compulsory for berthing and unberthing vessels of 10,000GT and over, if vessel is equipped with bow thruster, only 1 tug is compulsory). Note: Only one tug available so 2 tug rule not applicable.

Prevailing winds: Variable. Weather conditions may interfere with berthing and unberthing operations.
