Degrad des Cannes (GFDDC)

It is the main port of French Guiana since the demise of Cayenne as a commercial port.

Tropical.

Degrad des Cannes is situated on the NW bank of Fleuve Mahury, 12km SE of Cayenne.

LOA190m, beam 7.1m, draught 7.1m, 46,013DWT.

Approx 810,000t of cargo and 65,000TEU handled annually.

The recommended waiting anchorage is 0.5nm NE of "DC" Buoy, in depths of 9.0m. For prolonged wait vessels should anchor off Iles du Salut. There is a designated tanker anchorage, radius 1.0-1.5nm NW of "DC" Lightbuoy, with depths of 7.0-10.0m.

The fairway is 15km in length and 80m in width from Buoys "D1" to "D27". The entrance channel has minimum depth of 3.5m. The bottom of the channel is very soft mud and sand.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over LOA 45m or over 1,000mі, and is available throughout 24 hours. Pilot to be ordered by agent at least 48 hours in advance. Pilot boards close to "DC" Buoy (04°57.4'N 052°09.6'W).

Vessels of more than LOA 140m are restricted to draught 3.0m plus height of tide, UKC of 0.5m. Vessels less than LOA 140m are restricted to draught of 3.1m plus height of tide, UKC of 0.4m. Berthing and unberthing possible for all types of vessel day and night.

Range 2.3m LW, 3.5m HW. The tidal streams attain rates up to 4kts.
