General notices & regulations
Regulations concerning entry: In order to keep the entrance clear, vessels should not be anchored on or near the 132Β° Leading Line, within 600m of the Outer Lightbuoy (starboard hand) (0.3nm W of Fort George Point). Drills: Grenada Ports Authority should be advised prior to emergency drills taking place. Applications: Applications or requisitions are required in respect of the following: Berths: At least 24 working hours before vessel's arrival. Equipment: For the hire or use of any of the ports equipment including forklifts and container handling equipment, a requisition is to be made to the Equipment Supervisor at least 24 hours before the time of required use. Laid up status: Vessels anchored or moored in any port that are not being used for commercial or residential purposes may submit an application to the Port Manager to be classed as "Laid up" prior to such vessel being laid up. Applications or requisition forms are available from the Marine Unit of the Authority or through ship's agents. Berths: An application is required for the use of any berth from the Port Authority. This is usually submitted through the agent and must reach the Marine Unit at least 48 hours prior to vessel's arrival. The application for berth must also indicate whether the vessel is carrying dangerous/hazardous goods, and also indicate what services are required, eg, pilots, equipment, overtime, etc. Cargo: The following apply in respect of the receipt, storage and delivery of cargo: Bulk: Bulk cargo such as asphalt in drums, fertiliser and similar compounds, sugar and grains are usually delivered direct ship to truck. Liquid petroleum bulk products are discharged from dedicated mooring points in Grand Mal Bay. Special approval is required from the authority (and Customs) for the discharge of such bulks at places other than the ports. A privately owned evacuator may be available for hire for the discharge of grains. Cold storage: Chilled or frozen cargo is normally delivered ship to truck, however, the authority has a limited number of electrical connections to facilitate the on-site storage of reefer cargo. Containers: It is necessary for agents to authorise the movement of containers from the port to an inland destination. A Container Interchange Form must be completed to facilitate the movement of containers from the port to an inland destination and upon return.Computerised information: The authority has installed and maintains a Computerised Information System relating to the receipt and delivery of cargo. It is therefore imperative that clearly legible copies of the Manifest are submitted to the authority no less than 48 hours prior to vessel arrival. Covered warehousing: The authority does not provide covered warehousing for all goods. Goods that require special protection must be communicated to the Authority by way of a request for such cover or special storage. Dangerous cargo: Dangerous and hazardous cargo must be declared on the application for berth. The authority has very limited facilities for the storage of such goods and importers are required to make arrangements for their immediate removal from the ports.Further rules and regulations may be obtained from the Port Authority.
Health regulations
International Health Declaration Form to be completed on arrival. Pratique granted on arrival, cannot be applied for by radio. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate and Exemption Certificates cannot be renewed in Grenada.
