Holstebro-Struer (DKSTR)

The port is a modern commercial harbour and lies on a sheltered inland sea route joining Thyboren and Hals.

Holstebro-Struer is situated on the NW coast of Denmark, in Limfjorden 20nm from the North Sea.

LOA 113.87m, beam 16m, draught 4.0m, 4,633DWT.

Approx 82,000t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage can be obtained in Struer Bugt as convenient but clear of the dredged channel into the harbour.

Struer Bugt can be approached either from the N through Veno Sund or from the E through Veno Bugt, a dredged channel in Struer Bugt leads to the harbour entrance. From Oddesund, a mid channel course should be taken through Veno Sund and Veno Sund Snaevring. Pass clear of the flats of Vrald Odde, a spit extending NNE from Struer marked by a buoy (N cardinal). Struer Bugt: A dredged channel leads from the centre of Struer Bugt, (56° 30.2'N 008°36.0'E) to the harbour entrance, it has a width of 19m and a depth of 4.4m, marked by spar buoys. Leading lights are exhibited from lattice masts, 6m in height, with red triangular daymarks, the front point up and the rear point down, standing on the S side of Gamle Havn; when in line bearing 179.5° they lead through the centre of the dredged channel and into the harbour. Lights are exhibited from the heads of Vestre Mole and Nordre Daekvaerk, the W and N harbour moles. In summer a light is exhibited from the head of a breakwater extending approx 300m WNW from Vestra Mole and from the E entrance point of a yacht basin 0.1nm SW. Veno Bugt: From the NE pass through the centre of Veno Bugt. Enter Struer Bugt on a W course, midway between Veno Odde and Vrald Odde. Alter course S and steer to keep Struer Church just open to the left of the town hall, then proceed through the dredged channel as previously directed.

Vessels exceeding 200GT or vessels with LOA in excess of 35m require a pilot for passage under the Oddesund Bridge. Vessels with a LOA of 80m require a pilot for passage through bridges in Aalborg. Vessels with a draught in excess of 3.1m require a pilot for sailing into the dredged channels at Draget and Mejlgrunden and over Logstor shoal. Tankers exceeding 1,500DWT loaded or with uncleaned tanks require a pilot for all of Limfjord. Struer Church is situated 56°29.5'N 008°35.9'E.

The max draught is 4.0m through Thyboron and Logstor Channels. There is a speed limit of 3kts in the harbour. Bridges: There are 4 bridges that can be opened at any time. They are the Oddesund, Aggersund, Limfjord and railway bridges. The Oddesund Bridge has 24 hours service while night passage of all other bridges must be booked in advance. Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs Officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.

There is no demand for an ETA by Port Authorities. ETA messages should be passed to the ship's agent who will relay it to relevant parties (port, stevedores, work gangs, etc). Pratique is not required for Danish ports. Agent may request a Maritime Declaration of Health from the Master. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed in large ports.
