The port mainly handles general cargo and dry bulk.

Thisted is situated at Limfjord, on the N coast of Thisted Bredning, 96km from Thyboron.

Anchorage is available off the harbour, in depths of approx 10m.

Two breakwaters enclose the outer harbour, the eastern breakwater is 200m in length, the western breakwater is 91m in length. The outer harbour entrance depth is 6.0m, width 35m. The fish harbour depth is 2.0m at the entrance and leads off the Outer Harbour. The inner harbour entrance width is 55m. The turning basin in the outer harbour has a depth of 5.3m.

Pilots from Logstor and Thyboron serve the harbour. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 200GT during passage of the Oddesund Bridge or for vessels over 150GT and drawing 3.1m through the dredged channels of Draget and Bejstrup Lob.

Nil. Water levels can be increased by up to 1.5m by SW gales and reduced by 1.0m by ENE gales.

Not available but a harbour launch can assist with berthing.

Lyngby Radio (the only coast radio station in Denmark) is recommended for passing messages. The station works throughout 24 hours. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Ch 12, 13 and 16.

Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs Officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.
