Orehoved (DKORE)

Orehoved is a sub-pot of Guldborgsund.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

LOA 150m, draught 6.5m.

Anchorage is available at Bredegrund, approx 2nm from Orehoved.

The approach channel and harbour are dredged to 7.0m. The port is approached on leading lights through a narrow channel which leads to a turning basin off the NE side of the mole head, both of which are dredged to a depth of 7.0m. Leading Lights: Front Light at an elevation of 7m, from a post surmounted by a red triangle, situated on the E side of the mole head and the Rear Light (white tower 11m in height) from Orehoved Light Tower. In line these lights bear 272.5° and lead through the dredged channel across Vedby Hage, the shoal bank with a least depth of 1.5m, fronting the approaches to the harbour. This alignment also leads approx 0.15nm S of the buoy (E Cardinal), moored approx 0.6nm ENE of Orehoved Light Tower, which marks the E side of a detached shoal with a depth of 5.3m over it. The channel is marked by 6 buoys (green conical and red can), disposed 3 on each side, the outermost pair (with topmarks) are moored approx 0.5nm E of Orehoved Light Tower.

Vessels over 350GT should use a pilot. Pilots may be ordered through Vordingborg (Masnedo), on Ch 16. The pilot boards vessels arriving from the W at Bredegrund (55°00'.50N 11° 49'.50E) and vessels arriving from the E at Hestehoved (54°49'.00N 12°12'.50E) .

Orehoved Light is exhibited from a white tower 11m in height, on the NW side of the mole head.

None. Winds from N can raise water level by up to 0.7m; winds from SSW can lower it by 0.6m.

Tugs are usually not necessary but can be available at 12 hours notice.

Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.

Pratique is not required for Danish ports. Agent may request a Maritime Declaration of Health from the Master. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed in large ports.
