Kerteminde (DKKTD)

The port has no commercial activity at present, it is used by fishing boats and yachts only.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Kerteminde is situated on the island of Funen in the S part of the Kattegat to the W of the island of Sjaelland.

LOA 120m, draught 4.2m.

Approx 20,000t of cargo handled annually.

The holding ground in Kerteminde Bugt, clay and mud, is so good that a vessel can ride out a gale. Good anchorage may be obtained E of Kerteminde Havn, according to draught, where the holding ground is good (clay and mud); this anchorage is sheltered from all winds except those between E and SE which raise a short sea.

The harbour is enclosed by 2 long embankments, built on either side of Kertinge Nor, which continue E as breakwaters, for approx 0.1nm. The entrance, between the heads of the breakwaters is 40m in width facing ENE. A beacon, surmounted by a red radar reflector, stands on the head of the S breakwater. A submarine cable is laid across the entrance. Approach Kerteminde Havn on the line of the leading lights exhibited from a pair of metal pillars situated on the N side of the harbour 0.25nm inside the entrance; in line, bearing 253.5°, they lead through the breakwater. Pass between the buoys which mark the channel 0.15nm E of the entrance.

Range 0.5m. Sea level may be lowered by 0.8m during S gales, and raised by 1.0m during gales from NW to NE. The S going current generally sets across Kerteminde Bugt outside a depth of 16m, and then follows the coast outside a depth of 10.0m S to Knudshoved. In settled weather the current is regular, with a small portion setting in along the N shore, but the rates never exceed 1kt.

Lyngby Radio (the only coast radio station in Denmark) is recommended for passing messages. The station works throughout 24 hours. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Port: Ch 16, 12, 13.

Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs Officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.

There is no demand for an ETA by Port Authorities. ETA messages should be passed to the ship's agent who will relay it to relevant parties (port, stevedores, work gangs, etc). Pilot requires ETA at boarding point 24, 12 and 4 hours prior to arrival.

Pratique is not required for Danish ports. Agent may request a Maritime Declaration of Health from the Master. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed in large ports.

NOR should be tendered in accordance with Charter Party terms.
