Hammerhavn (DKHHV)

Hammerhavn is a small pleasure craft harbour. The 30m wide entrance is between the heads of two substantial moles which face W. The harbour consists of single basin with a depth of 5m just off the middle of the quay along the inner wall of the N moles.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

The port of Hammerhavn is situated on the NW tip of Bornholm, an island in the Baltic Sea.

LOA 50m, beam 15m, draught 2.7m.

The harbour is approached from the WSW. When entering, vessels should alter course N close round a short spur which projects E into the harbour from the head of the N mole. The depths at a short distance from it shoal rapidly.

At night the white sector of a light, (white wooden hut, 3m in height) situated on the E side of the harbour bearing between 073° and 077° lead through the entrance. A light, (framework tower, elevation 7m) exhibited at the head of the N mole.

The size of vessels which can use the harbour depends on the weather conditions which affect the water level, which may be lowered by 0.3m in SW winds and raised by 1m in NW gales. Silting occurs in both the harbour and the entrance and charted depths may not always be accurate.

Range 0.3m.

Lyngby Radio (the only coast radio station in Denmark) is recommended for passing messages. The station works throughout 24 hours. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Customs allowances: One bottle of spirits and 200 cigarettes per person are allowed. If quantities in excess of the allowance are found the penalty is a fine. The size of the fine depends on the amounts in excess of allowances. Clearance is handled by the agent but Customs Officers may board at any time to check the validity of the documents handed to the agent. Immigration: There are no restrictions for crew. Passengers of nationalities which require a visa are only allowed transit in Denmark for 36 hours.

There is no demand for an ETA by Port Authorities. ETA message should be passed to the ship's agent who will relay it to relevant parties (port, stevedores, work gangs, etc). Pilot requires ETA at boarding point 24, 12 and 4 hours prior to arrival.

Pratique is not required for Danish ports. Agent may request a Maritime Declaration of Health from the Master. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed in large ports.
