Tekirdag (TRTEK)

The private port of Tekirdag consists of an outer port, inner port and a new container terminal. The port handles general, liquid and Ro-Ro cargoes. Cargo handled: Iron, steel, cement, forest products, paper, plastic, coal, glass, wheat, oil, sunflower seed and agricultural products.

The port of Tekirdag is located on the N coast of the Sea of Marmara, approx 85nm W of Istanbul.

Martas is 100km W of Istanbul, on the N shore of the Sea of Marmara.

Approx 880 vessels handled annually.

Anchorage is available in the roads fronting the town. Depths decrease gradually, there being depths of 9.0m approx 0.5nm offshore. Winds from ESE cause rather a heavy swell. The best anchorage is in depths of approx 11.0m, sand, with a large domed mosque bearing 350°, distance approx 0.6nm.

Designated anchorage area, with depths of 16-60m, is 4nm W of the port.

Compulsory for Turkish merchant vessels over 1,000GT or more and foreign vessels of 150GT or more entering or leaving the port. Pilot available throughout 24 hours. Pilot boards 1nm from the entrance in roads. Request should be sent by telex 24 hours before vessel's arrival in port area through agent in Tekirdag. Pilotage and tugs are compulsory for berthing, depending on vessels GT.

Pilotage is compulsory for all foreign vessels over 50GT and all Turkish vessels over 1,000GT. Pilot boards 1nm from the port.

Tugs are compulsory for vessels over 1,000GT. Two tugs, with bollard pull up to 16t, are available.
