The port handles general cargo, dry bulk, container, Ro-Ro, LPG and liquid cargo.

The port of Gemlik, sometimes referred to as Gemport, is located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Gemlik, in the Sea of Marmara.

LOA 365.85m, beam 48.40m, 154,792DWT.

Approx 2,600,000t of cargo, 205,000TEU and 1,400 vessels handled annually.

Anchorage is available if required and can be advised by pilot. The port is approached from the Marmara Sea into Gemlik Bay and directly to pilot station. Mooring Buoy: A mooring buoy is located in the outer harbour 0.45nm NNE of Tuzla Burnu.

Mooring is usually by 3 x 1 lines fore and aft.

Pilotage is compulsory for foreign vessels over 500GT and Turkish vessels over 1,000GT. The pilotage service is provided by Gemlik Port and Warehousing Administration Co Inc, Tel: +90 224 524 8831, Fax: +90 224 524 8830 VHF Ch 16; 71 (calling). Pilots are available throughout 24 hours. Notice must be given 24, 12, 6 and 3 hours through ship's agent. The pilot boarding place is 40° 26.2'N 029°07.4'E, 0.8nm N of Tuzla Lighthouse.

The port limits are defined as E of the meridian of 029°05.8'E, at the entrance to the bay.

Tugs available. One tug is compulsory for vessels over 200GT. Two tugs are compulsory for vessels over 500GT. Three tugs are compulsory for vessels over 1,500GT.

Call Turk Radio on MF & HF bands, (ship-to-shore communication is by VHF-DSC channels 16, 70 near to Turkey). Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain Customs clearance. Personnel not permitted to join or leave the ship before inspection is completed. Vessels may be cleared at anchorage or alongside and sometimes in the straits of Dardanelles and Bosphorus by the sanitary launch. The clearance party consists of 1 Sanitary Officer, 1 or more Immigration Police, 1 or more Customs Officer. Customs allowance: Ten packets of cigarettes and one bottle of spirits per crew member per week.

ETA should be sent 48, 24 and 12 hour prior to arrival and should include request for pilot and tugs. Vessels should also advise ETA 4 hours prior to arrival via agent or directly on VHF, stating the following: ..... a) Vessels name b) LOA and beam c) Maximum draught d) Callsign

All foreign ships are required to fly Turkish flag during their stay in Turkish ports or anchorages and also when passing through the Turkish straits (Dardanelles and Bosphorus).

Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain free pratique.

NOR will be received by Loading Master or receivers of cargoes. It should be tendered at the time of pilot boarding, anchoring or arrival points.
